Eye Lift Surgery

Eyelid surgery (a.k.a. Eyelift, blepharoplasty) is designed to improve the appearance (and in some cases function) of the eyelids. Eyelid surgery is a challenging (and rewarding!) area of cosmetic facial surgery, as eyelid function and cosmesis are complex. In addition to cosmetic eyelid surgery, we offer surgery for eyelid trauma, orbital trauma and tumours, defective lid function (e.g. lower lid ectropion, upper lid ptosis). Chemical peels, Hyaluronic (Juvederm and Restylane) and Botox treatments are valuable adjuncts to surgical treatments. Because eyelid skin is so fragile, it is often the first to show signs of facial ageing, and your consultation may simply result in a better understanding of how to prevent accelerated facial ageing.

Blepharoplasty patient shown before surgery with bags under eyes and wrinkled folds of skin hooding eyelashes on upper lid.

Eye Lift Surgery 2

Caption B

Incisions following natural contour lines in upper and lower lids provide access to skin and fatty tissue. In some cases, excess fat may be removed through an incision placed inside the lower eyelid (trans-conjunctival blepharoplasty).

Eye Lift Surgery 3

Caption C

Sutures close the incisions, leaving hairline scars that soon fade. A TCA chemical peel may be recommended to improve eyelid skin elasticity and improve skin discolorations.

Eye Lift Surgery 4

Caption D

The postoperative patient with eyes that are normal in appearance.
