Breast Lift / Mastopexy

Ptosis is the term used to describe sagging tissues, and breast lift is the term used to describe an operation to correct ptosis and reshape the breasts. Mastopexy or Mammoplasty are other common terms for this group of procedures.

For some patients, modest problems with breast shape can be improved with implants, liposuction or fat grafting, or even a suture lift technique. But if the position or size of your areola is wrong, or there is excessive skin, a breast lift may be necessary to achieve an attractive breast appearance. Breast lift does necessitate scars, but our techniques have evolved to minimize the scars from breast lift surgery, and in some patients the scars are barely visible.

Your consultation with Dr. Kreidstein will include a careful discussion of the many mastopexy options. Modified donut mastopexy requires areola-only scar and can correct areolar position and reduce areolar size. The Vertical Pattern lift (‘lollipop’ scar) is used when there is significant excess skin to remove. Combination implant with breast lift surgery is an option if there is sagging skin and too little volume. Major weight-loss patients may want to consider autologous augmentation of breast tissue with redundant flank tissue that would otherwise be discarded. If your problem is Tuberous Breast deformity, our single-stage technique to reduce areolar projection and augment the breast base will be discussed.

Techniques

We see many patients with Nipple Inversion, and we are experienced with several techniques, including a technique that does not require damage to the duct system necessary for breast-feeding. Over-sized nipples can be reduced with a simple procedure. And asymmetry, in which one breast is dramatically different in appearance than the other, will require a combination of the above approaches. We look forward to finding a solution that’s right for you.

Incisions following the breast’s natural contour define the area of excision and the new location for the nipple. Skin in the shaded area is removed and the nipple moved higher.

Costs

A typical fee for breast lift surgery is $11,000, with additional fee of $5000 if breast implants are added.
