Lines around the mouth are not corrected by facelift alone. We added a chemical peel around the mouth to hide this sign of aging.
Chemical peel is necessary to correct the effects of sun damage on skin. Peel is used to enhance the lift and fill effect obtained with a facelift.
A poorly executed facelift creates a pulled or tight appearance. Our goal is a natural rebalancing of facial tone and volume to create a relaxed, harmonious look.
Every face ages differently. Descent of facial fat with loss of cheek volume and exaggerated jowling required malar fat grafting and lower facelift to achieve a harmonious result.

We prefer to perform facelift when aging is less advanced, as this allows for a more gradual correction. Nevertheless, it is never too late to obtain a more youthful appearance.
Another example in which a lift alone would not address sun-damaged skin. Healing from the chemical peel does leave some pink skin even at 6 weeks, but this can be readily covered with makeup.
Platysma muscle bands can be conspicuous at the front of the neck. Some patients benefit from directly suturing these muscle edges together to achieve a durable correction.
